COLUMBIA BASIN — The sun is shining; the cranes are in flight and there’s a host of things to do in the Basin this week. Here are a few:   


March 21-23 


Sandhill Crane Festival 


The Othello Sandhill Crane Festival highlights the spring return of sandhill cranes to the greater Othello area and the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge. Lectures will be delivered Friday night and all day Saturday. Tours will be offered Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Info and registration: www.othellosandhillcranefestival.org.


Space Burgers 


The Moses Lake Lioness Club will open its iconic Space Burger booth for three days. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the Grant County Fairgrounds, 3953 Airway Drive NE, Moses Lake. Info: facebook.com/Spaceburgers. 


Spiced Rye 


Spiced Rye, comprised of Ellensburg duo Larry and Re Hart, has well over 60 original songs with what is best described as an Americana/singer-songwriter sound. Along with lead vocals, Re plays rhythm guitar while Larry plays acoustic lead. 5 p.m. at Michael’s Bistro & Market, 221 W. Broadway, Moses Lake. Info: www.spicedryeband.com.  


March 24 


Coffee and Support 


Grab your favorite coffee and start your Monday out with a good cup of joe and support from those who are on the autism journey with you. Sponsored by the Autism Support Group of Grant County. 9-11 a.m. at Cup of Joy Cafe, 430 E. Division St., Ephrata. Info: grantcountyautism.org. 


The Hall Sisters 


The Hall Sisters have established themselves as one of the up-and-coming acts in the country-pop genre. The ensemble has performed on notable stages such as The Grand Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall and at Dollywood. Movie Matinee

March 28 


Movie Day at the Library 


Free showing of newly released animated Disney movie "Moana 2." This movie is rated PG and runs 2 hours. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ animated musical reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After hearing from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey into long-lost waters for an adventure. Some flashing lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers. Feel free to bring snacks to nibble on while watching the movie, just clean up after yourself before you leave. 1 and 3 p.m. at the Quincy Public Library, 208 Central Ave. S. Info: 509-787-2359. 


‘Sherlock Jr.’ 


Columbia Basin Allied Arts presents the classic 1924 silent comedy starring Buster Keaton. Live music provided by Gideon Freudmann of CelloBop. Fun for the whole family. 7 p.m. at the Wallenstien Theater, 6989 College Parkway NE, Moses Lake. Info and tickets: www.cba-arts.org.  


March 29 


Your Road Home workshop 


This workshop presents attendees with a road map to planning how to put the consumer in a position to buy a new home. Speed puzzle competition 


Show your jigsaw chops with this high-speed challenge. Each team of four will be given the same puzzle to complete in two hours. After the contest, each team will take home the puzzle and the first team to finish will get a grand prize. The cost of entry is $50 and will include a puzzle, water, sparkling water, special discounts and the thrill of quick puzzling. 5 p.m. at Sandbox Bookstore and Games, 102 E. Wampum 


Fundraiser auction to benefit Wheat Land Communities Fair. Live and silent auctions, plus dinner catered by Rollin’ Coal Barbecue.
