Devon Leavitt
Devon M Leavitt, 32, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on March 5, 2025.
Devon was born to Darlene Schrag and Michael Leavitt on March 2, 1993, in Moses Lake, Wash.
He spent his early years playing with his cousins and sister Danielle, creating mischief and getting into trouble in the backyard. He moved back and forth between Clarkston, Wash., and Warden, Wash., during his younger years. When he was about 12, he moved back to Warden and spent most of his time when not in school with his grandparents, Steve and Nadine.
Devon graduated from Warden High School in 2011 and then worked on their family’s farm for a few years. After that, he worked for El Oro Cattle Feeders in Warden before moving to Wenatchee, Wash. While in Wenatchee, Devon worked for H2 Precast. His mechanical abilities quickly moved him into a position within the company where he was asked to travel around Eastern Washington and Eastern Montana to help problem solve mechanical issues at the company's various locations. During his work with H2 Precast, Devon liked to share stories of times he found himself cutting metal or welding at considerable heights without proper safety equipment — Devon never batted an eye at the thought of the danger — but these stories bother his grandfather very much.
Devon lived life on Devon’s Terms. He was almost too smart for his own good and could always find a way to make things work. He could build, weld and fix just about anything he needed or was asked to. Devon was always eager, willing and ready to learn new things. He will be remembered largely for his ability to build and fix things — a craft that was mostly self-taught. He spent a lot of his free time in his grandparents’ shop working on his legacy of cars, pickups and other various motors he was going to get running again, but “never had time.”
At the time of Devon’s passing, he was working for his cousin at Blue Sun Farms. During his time with Blue Sun Farms, he worked in their composting division operating heavy machinery and helping modify and fabricate equipment as needed. Devon will be deeply missed by anyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sharon and Percy Schrag, grandmother Sylvia Daniels, and uncle Patrick Elstad.
He is survived by his mother, Darlene Schrag, his father and stepmother, Michael and Marilou Leavitt, grandparents Steve and Nadine Leavitt, sisters Danielle (Derek) Smith and Samantha Leavitt, brothers Vincent Leavitt and John Karl Leavitt, nephew Rayne, niece Kali and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 24, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1017 S County Road in Warden at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
