Nancy J. Tracy
Nancy was born Sept. 4, 1953, and passed away March 6, 2025. She was born to Richard A. and Hedwig Waslawski at Elmendorf AFB at Anchorage, Alaska. Nancy's father served proudly in the United States Air Force. From Anchorage she traveled with her family to Francis Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyo.; Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas; Brize Norton AFB in Great Britain; Larson AFB at Moses Lake, Wash., and then Columbus AFB in Columbus, Miss., where he retired. Nancy's family then returned to Moses Lake where she attended school, graduating from Moses Lake High School in 1971.
Nancy was fiercely independent and raised her three sons largely on her own. She started her career at SAGA foods at Big Bend Community College when she was 15, eventually moving on to Haley Office Supply and Air America Fuel Supply, among others, and eventually retiring from the Big Bend Community College Foundation. Nancy was a talented gardener, enjoyed crocheting and was an excellent cook. She was able to travel to Germany and visit her mother's homeland, and also to Brazil. Her final years were spent at her country home, with her faithful standard poodle Lucy as her companion. Nancy enjoyed working with people and had volunteered at many agencies.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Patricia Waslawski. She is survived by two sisters, Margie (Dennis) Hughes of Pasco and Trudy (Matthew) Black of Soap Lake. She is also survived by her three "boys," Chris (Ashley) Cook of Harrington, Quincy (Lexie) Cook of Wilson Creek and Brady Cook of Moses Lake. Nancy has numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She also leaves behind longtime friend Faye (Jimmy) Adolfson of Moses Lake and many, many friends.
Nancy was an upbeat person who preferred to look at the bright side of things. She had a great sense of humor and had many happy memories of laughing with (and at) friends and family. She will be sorely missed. A celebration of her life will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at The Best Western Plus Motel at Moses Lake, 3000 W. Marina Drive, Moses Lake, Wash.
