Consuelo Bustamante Meza

| March 3, 2025 4:16 PM

Consuelo Bustamante Meza, 88, a beloved mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away Feb. 26, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on Dec. 23, 1936, in Asherton, Texas, Consuelo (affectionately known as Chelo or Connie) dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her seven children, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In search of a brighter future, Consuelo and her late husband made the bold move to Moses Lake, Wash., following in the footsteps of many Tejano families. While settling in Moses Lake, Consuelo gave birth to her seven children: Jimmy, Linda, Frank, Pita, Raymond, Mila and Daniel.

Though she lived a humble life, Consuelo's love for her family, friends, and neighbors was immeasurable. Her home was a sanctuary, a haven where anyone was always welcome. With a heart full of generosity, she greeted all with a warm smile and ensured no one left her home hungry. A loyal neighbor, she was always ready to lend a hand, offering both physical and emotional support. Consuelo had a unique gift for caring for others, and she excelled at it.

Her talents extended beyond care — she was remarkably mechanically inclined and could fix almost anything, taking on projects big and small without hesitation.

Consuelo’s greatest joy came from spending quality time with her family, offering help to her neighbors and tending to her beautiful garden of flowers. Her homemade tortillas were legendary and her Christmas Eve celebrations were eagerly anticipated by her grandchildren, bringing joy and togetherness to all.

Consuelo’s spirit will forever live on through the countless lives she touched with her love, generosity, and selflessness. Consuelo is survived by her children: Linda Medina, Pita Cervantes, Mila (Jaime) Garza, Daniel (Araceli) Campos, and countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eliseo and Teresa García; her sister, Aida; her sons, Jimmy, Frank and Raymond Meza; and her grandchildren, Joey and Tina Chavez and Isaiah Medina.

A Funeral Mass for Consuelo will be held Thursday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. with a Holy Rosary before the service at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by burial at Pioneer Memorial Cemetery. The family warmly invites all who knew Consuelo to join them for a celebration of life at Restore City Church from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory live on forever in the hearts of those she loved.

Consuelo Bustamante Meza was known as a helper and was always there for others with giving heart and helpful hands.
