Kenneth Palek
Ken Palek passed away from a severe stroke June 22, 2025, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born April 30, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Joseph and Rose Palek.
Ken spent his formative years in Cleveland, surrounded by a large and loving extended Czechoslovakian family. He was the oldest of three boys and is survived by his brothers, Chuck and Thomas, both of Cleveland, Ohio.
Ken graduated from high school and went on to attend Kent State University for three years before enlisting in the Army during the Vietnam War. He later completed his associate's degree in Cleveland.
While at Kent State, Ken met the love of his life, Lois Edwards. They were married Oct. 28, 1967, and were blessed with three children. Ken and Lois remained devoted partners for 57 years. Ken considered it one of his greatest privileges to be a husband to Lois, a father to Stephen (Mindi), Julie (Daniel), and Elizabeth (Cary), and a grandfather to Brooke, Madison, Emma, Molly, Mitchell, Miles, Maryn, Leo, and Piper. He cherished his family as a precious gift from God.
Ken was employed as an Executive Director for several housing authorities, including the one in Moses Lake. After retiring, he continued to serve the community as director of the Moses Lake Salvation Army for several years. He was also deeply involved in his church, serving for many years as a deacon. He was known for helping with church picnics, plays, and providing transportation for the elderly.
Ken had a lifelong love of music and played both the bass and accordion in several bands. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, camping and especially captaining the Moses Lake party barge. A skilled craftsman, he also designed and completed many beautiful stained-glass projects.
Ken will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Yet, there is peace in knowing he is with Jesus and truly free at last.
A celebration of life service will be held at Restore City Church on Thursday, July 10, at 10 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.
