Break in Quincy canal closes road Saturday
A canal embankment break closed a road for a few hours Saturday morning south of Quincy.

WINCHESTER — A break in the wall of an irrigation canal closed a road for a few hours about four miles south of Winchester on Saturday morning.
“There was a breach in the embankment,” said Troy Freeman of the Quincy-Columbia Basin Irrigation District.
The break was reported on Winchester Road Northwest about 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Freeman said. The road was reopened about 1 p.m.
The breach was in a medium-sized lateral, Freeman said. No homes were at risk.
