Tim Flint
Tim Flint passed away on June 11, 2025, at the age of 85 in Othello, Wash. Tim is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Susan Flint; daughters Dawn Donahoo (Doug), Kimberly Detwiler and Becky Jo Flint (Scott Rodgers); grandson Jake; and granddaughters Ashley, Alyson and Jessica.
Tim was born in Los Angeles, Calif., and attended schools in California. He graduated from Sierra High School and went on to Reedley College. In 1959, a blind date led to a lifelong partnership with Susan and they married in 1960. His early career included PG&E of California, but Tim’s passion for the outdoors led him to pursue a career in Wildlife Management and a move to the Pacific Northwest. Encouraged by his wife, Tim returned to college in his 30s, earning a BS degree in Wildlife Resources from the University of Idaho in 1974. He immediately joined the Washington Department of Fish and Game, where he served with distinction until he retired in 1987 due to post-polio syndrome. Tim’s life was one of quiet determination, deep love for family and a strong connection to nature.
A true outdoorsman, Tim spent much of his life hunting, fishing and camping across northern California and the Pacific Northwest. He loved the solitude of the woods, the challenge of the hunt and the peace that came with casting a fishing line into mountain streams. Many of his most treasured moments were spent around campfires with family and teaching his daughters how to appreciate the outdoors. Another hobby was participating in Mountain Man events, muzzle loaders, leather, capotes and friends. For those who knew him, his life was not complete without a Labrador at his side, which he raised and trained with love.
In retirement, he and Sue split their time between Othello and Quartzsite, Arizona, enjoying the warmth of the desert. Tim spent many hours on his ATV exploring the desert, and many hours singing karaoke with a group of fans enjoying his wonderful voice.
Broadly known for his integrity, hard work and ability to talk to anyone, Tim leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and perseverance.
A celebration of life will be held July 19 at 11 a.m. at the Othello Senior Center. Donations may be made to the March of Dimes or St. Jude’s Hospital, Tim’s favorite charities.
