Tracy Hill

| June 12, 2025 3:32 PM

Tracy Ann (Williams) Hill, 60, passed peacefully June 1, 2025, after a brave and dignified battle with cancer. She was surrounded by those who loved her most — her family, her heart, her world. Tracy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep, unwavering spirit that touched everyone she met.

Born and raised in Quincy, Wash, Tracy was the eldest of four sisters and graduated from Quincy High School in 1982. As the oldest, she naturally took on the role of protector, helper, and cheerleader — traits that stayed with her for life. Whether she was working on the family farm, raising 4-H animals or riding horses with her friends, Tracy's character shone through.

Tracy had a natural gift with animals, especially dogs and horses. She was a founding member of ARFS in Grant County and dedicated herself to rescuing, fostering, and finding forever homes for countless dogs over the years. Her home was always open — to animals and people alike.

She had a soft spot for the underdog, and her big heart made room for everyone.

But above all, Tracy was a proud mother to her son, DJ. She raised him with unshakable love in Ephrata, creating a home that was full of warmth, support, and laughter. Tracy was the kind of mom who showed up for everything — who made holidays special, gave the best hugs, and offered the kind of advice that stuck with you for life. She was also a second mom to many of DJ’s friends, offering them comfort, wisdom, or just a safe place to hang out. Her kitchen table was always a gathering place, and her door was always open.

In 1992, Tracy began what would become a 32-year career with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Her work there was more than just a job — it was her second family. She brought heart, humor and incredible organization to every role she filled, eventually becoming the administrative assistant to the sheriff. She was the calm in the storm, the glue that bound things together, and the spirit that lifted everyone around her. Her coworkers became lifelong friends, drawn in by her loyalty, wit and support.

In 2019, Tracy’s life took a beautiful turn when she met Chris Hill. They shared a love that was equal parts adventurous and deeply rooted in friendship. Their impromptu wedding in 2021, held during a birthday party at their home, was the perfect reflection of who they were: spontaneous, full of joy, and surrounded by those they loved.

Together Tracy and Chris traveled to Belize, Mexico, Hawaii, and were planning for a future filled with even more adventure.

Even after her diagnosis in 2023, Tracy continued to live by her mantra: Love and Laughter. She retired in October 2024 but made the most of her time, celebrating her 60th birthday in Kauai and organizing a family trip to the Oregon Coast in March 2025 for her mother’s 80th birthday.

Through it all, Tracy stayed strong for everyone else — still the steady presence, still the one cheering on others, even as her own battle intensified.

Tracy is preceded in death by her father, John Williams.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Chris Hill; beloved son, David (Serena) Gray; stepson Ryan (Lindsay) Bowen; mother Cleora (Richard) Royston; stepmother Bernice Williams; her cherished sisters, Carla (Kevin) Meyer, Annette (Chris) Lupo, Lisa (Gerry) Fuchs, step-siblings Tonya (Damian) Reid; David (Alona) Wilson, Julianna Royston and Mark Royston; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends who adored her.

If you’d like to honor Tracy, take a walk up Beasley Hill — her favorite trail — and pause to look out over the Basin to remember her spirit.

A celebration of Tracy’s incredible life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Soap Lake High School gym in Soap Lake, Wash. Please come as you are — ready to laugh, cry, and share memories of Tracy, just as she would have wanted.

Arrangements are under the care of Nicoles Funeral Home, Ephrata WA. Please express your thoughts and memories for the family at https://bit.ly/TRACYHILL
