MOSES LAKE — An outdoor grill prompted a response from the Moses Lake Fire Department on Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

The fire was reported about 4:30 p.m. at a residence on Bayside Drive, according to a MLFD press release. Multiple callers reported a large fire in the backyard of the residence, but did not know if the residence or any adjacent structures were involved.

The fire was in the home’s backyard, caused by the grill. No one was found inside the house, the release said.

The MLFD responded with two engines and one medic unit as well as two command staff.

“The incident serves as an important reminder that cooking fire are the leading cause of house fires in the United States,” the MLFD release said. “The department urges all residents to use caution when cooking and never leave active flames or heat sources unattended.”
