COLUMBIA BASIN — Live music, festivals in the sun and more await this week in the Columbia Basin. Here are a few things going on: 


June 6 


Author Visit: Chris Crutcher 

Come hear acclaimed young adult author Chris Crutcher share insights into his writing, discuss the impact of literature on young minds, and answer your questions in an engaging conversation. Crutcher’s books, including “Whale Talk” and “Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes,” have inspired readers for decades. Free and open to the public. 5 p.m. at Ritzville Public Library, 302 W. Music and Wine with Doug Coutts 

Live music with Moses Lake saxophonist Doug Coutts, offering his take on jazz standards as well as more recent music. Grover Pridmore 

Live music from Okanogan County native singer-songwriter Grover Pridmore. From busking in Jerusalem and Mexico to performing at churches, bars and coffee shops, Grover has a broad spectrum of musical knowledge and talent. 7-9 p.m. at Moses Lake Taproom, 530 W. Valley Road. Info: 509-707-0052. 


June 7 


Concealed Carry Class 

This four-hour comprehensive training course is designed to educate individuals on the laws and regulations surrounding the carrying of concealed firearms. This class covers essential topics such as the use of force, firearms safety and the proper handling and storage of firearms, as well as the specific laws and any requirements for obtaining permits in Washington, Oregon and Arizona. Upon completion of the class, attendees will be eligible to apply for the above-mentioned permits and will also receive a WA — HB-1143 Gun Safety Certificate. Cost is $74.99. Salute to our Veterans Show ‘N Shine Car Show

Family Fun Day 

A $20 wristband buys unlimited access to laser tag, inflatable slides, bouncy houses, obstacle course, knockerball arena and interactive arena plus spin art, temporary tattoos and one game of mini golf. Book signing with John B.  Hammond

Brent Reese Memorial Car Show 

An afternoon of cars, music, food and community in memory of Brent Reese, who passed away from ALS in 2020. All proceeds will be donated to the Gleason Foundation to help families affected by ALS. Storytime with Valor

Brewing Connections 

Raising a child with special needs can be challenging, but you’re not alone. Join Parent to Parent of Grant/Adams County for an exciting evening of brewing connections to connect with other parents on a similar journey. Senior Picnic 

Come see all the business vendors who offer senior services in our community, get your goodie bags and enjoy a free lunch, door prizes, and entertainment. Lind Field Day 

Washington State University invites grain growers to see firsthand the latest research on new grain varieties, innovative crop rotations, and other practices serving one of the nation’s driest grain-producing regions. Free Kids’ Movie: ‘A Minecraft Movie’ 

A mysterious portal pulls four misfits into the Overworld, a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master the terrain while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected crafter named Steve. Rated PG. Lind Combine Derby 

The town of Lind’s biggest community festival, including demo derby using farm equipment.  Car and pickup races 6 p.m. Friday followed by live music. Large beer garden and World Famous Lind Lions Club Derby burgers along with plenty of other food choices. Fun for the whole family. 7 a.m. breakfast Saturday, followed by 10:45 kiddie parade, 11 a.m. grant parade, noon barbecue in the park, 2 p.m. pickup races, 3 p.m. combine derby and grain trucks, 8 p.m. live music. Sage-N-Sun Festival

Wilson Creek Bluegrass Jam
