COLUMBIA BASIN — The weather is gorgeous, the grandchildren are out of school and there’s no end of opportunities for seniors to get out and about this month. Here are a few: 


June 6 

Music and Wine with Doug Coutts 

Live music with Moses Lake saxophonist Doug Coutts, offering his take on jazz standards as well as more recent music. Wine, craft beer and hard cider available, as well as water, soda, cheese, Cornfusion gourmet popcorn and local meats. 6-8 p.m. at Camas Cove Cellars, 911 Camas Place, Moses Lake. June 7 

Concealed Carry Class 

This four-hour comprehensive training course is designed to educate individuals on the laws and regulations surrounding the carrying of concealed firearms. This class covers essential topics such as the use of force, firearms safety and the proper handling and storage of firearms, as well as the specific laws and any requirements for obtaining permits in Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. Upon completion of the class, attendees will be eligible to apply for the above-mentioned permits and will also receive a WA - HB-1143 Gun Safety Certificate. Cost is $74.99. Salute to our Veterans Show ‘N Shine Car Show

Book signing with John B. Hammond

Brent Reese Memorial Car Show 

An afternoon of cars, music, food, and community in memory of Brent Reese, who passed away from ALS in 2020. All proceeds will be donated to the Gleason Foundation to help families affected by ALS. Senior Picnic 

Come see all the business vendors who offer senior services in our community, get your goodie bags and enjoy a free lunch, door prizes, and entertainment. This year's theme is “Peace, Love & Party ’60s and ’70s.” Free for ages 55 and up; $5 per person under 55. June 12 

Lind Field Day 

Washington State University invites grain growers to see firsthand the latest research on new grain varieties, innovative crop rotations, and other practices serving one of the nation’s driest grain-producing regions. Pints & Pyrography – Father’s Day

June 13-14 

Lind Combine Derby 

The town of Lind’s biggest community festival, including a demo derby using farm equipment.  Car and pickup races 6 p.m. Friday followed by live music. Large beer garden and World Famous Lind Lions Club Derby burgers, along with plenty of other food choices. Fun for the whole family. 7 a.m. breakfast Saturday, followed by 10:45 kiddie parade, 11 a.m. grand parade, noon barbecue in the park, 2 p.m. pickup races, 3 p.m. combine derby and grain trucks, 8 p.m. live music. Sage-N-Sun Festival

Run for the Paws

Crescent Bar Opening Day of Boating Parade

Mount St. Helens: 45 Years Later

The Longest Day Summer Fest 

Come enjoy an afternoon of music, delicious food, fun games and activities and community connection and purpose. All proceeds raised during this event will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association, helping support research, advocacy, and care for those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Moses Lake Airshow

Dru Gimlin 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament 

Basketball tournament benefiting the Dru Gimlin Foundation. Boys and girls divisions, grades 3-12, open and adult divisions for ages 18 and over. CISNCW Golf Tournament 

Fundraiser to support Communities In Schools of North Central Washington. Every dollar raised goes toward helping students stay in school and succeed.
