Public’s help sought in Quincy homicide investigation
QUINCY — The Quincy Police Department is asking for the public’s help in solving a homicide in the southwest area of town May 15.
Joshua Avalos, 33, was found at a residence in the 200 block of I Street SW that morning; Quincy Police Chief Ryan Green said QPD is asking residents of that area with video cameras to take a look at the footage. The target area is I Street SW, J Street SW, K Street SW and L Street SW from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
“If they have anybody walking around during those hours, we want to see that,” Green said.
The shooting occurred at about 1 a.m.
The QPD is also asking anyone who talked to Avalos in the days leading up to May 15 to contact them, he said.
“We want to know what those conversations were like,” he said.
According to a QPD release, reports that Avalos was currently in a gang were erroneous, and any gang involvement was in the past. The murder does not appear to be gang-related, the release said.
Officers are looking for information on any suspicious activity, since there are still unanswered questions, Green said. People who have information on the case can contact the QPD at 509-787-2222 or 509-787-4718, extension 517. Detective Jazzlyn Silva can be reached at 509-797-3555.
