Ephrata Police Department logs for July 24, 2025
The reports below were provided by the sheriff’s office or police department indicated. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
July 9
Report of someone at a business on Basin Street making people uncomfortable. Police made contact with management and said the suspect contacted the victim at her house after hours. Management wanted the suspect trespassed. Reporting party spoke to victim who said the suspect contacted her about church and then talked about someone trying to shoot the suspect.
Report of suspect hanging out in front of store on Basin Street several times. Suspect was trespassed from business in 2024. Police contacted suspect on Basin St. Southwest and was cited for second-degree criminal trespassing and released.
Report of someone setting up camp in tree line by St. Rose Catholic School. Suspect contacted and stated she had been there for some time but was packing up. Suspect had Department of Corrections warrant and was encouraged to check in with DOC since she was in town.
July 10
Report of domestic. Suspect was booked for fourth-degree assault and interfering with reporting.
Report of cold malicious mischief at Lions Park. Unknown suspect or suspects used paint pen to scribble nonsense on the walls and mirror and the words “sleepy” and “doom” could be made out in the scribbles.
Report of tagging at Parkway Intermediate School.
Report of suspect on top of the roof of library. Contact was made with the suspect and he was permanently trespassed from the library. Suspect told not to get on rooftops.
Report of first-degree burglary — domestic violence. Suspect arrested.
Report of theft that happened at business. Suspect walked out with full cart of items totaling around $600. Suspect put stolen merchandise into vehicle and re-entered the store and stole around $443 more of merchandise. Unknown employee confronted suspect and said they would call police. Suspect told the employee to do it and then fled.
July 11
Report of malicious mischief in progress. Suspect from today’s report matched suspect from previous taggings throughout the city. Suspect located nearby and arrested. Suspect booked on second-degree malicious mischief.
Report of neighbor playing in his yard with a sword. On arrival, subject was swinging sword. He dropped the sword when he saw police. Subject said he was just practicing with his new toy and apologized for scaring anyone. Subject said he would move to the backyard.
July 12
Report of damage at Parkway Baseball Fields. Graffiti found on the dugout of the baseball fields.
July 13
Report of suspicious person yelling, half-naked in 1200 block of Cottage Street.
Report of moose running at large. A large number of vehicles and people started to gather and pushed the moose south. Police started traffic control and pushed the moose west.
July 14
Report of domestic violence in the 300 block of Seventh Avenue Southwest. Suspect left prior to police arrival. Suspect located and arrested for fourth-degree assault — domestic violence. Suspect booked into jail.
July 15
Report of new taggings at the old JC Penney building.
July 16
Report of single vehicle collision on Alder Street Northwest. Semi-truck crashed and was off roadway. When police arrived, semi-truck was on its side.
July 17
Report of animal cruelty. Reporting party said dog left in vehicle. Upon arrival, dog was removed from unlocked car and stored in the reporting party’s business. Dog was shaking, window only slightly cracked and dog had been in car for over an hour. Dog owner arrived and questioned and strongly warned about actions.
July 18
Report of physical domestic violence. Suspect taken into custody without incident.
July 19
Report of a two-vehicle collision on Basin Street Southwest. Vehicle one rear-ended vehicle two at a high rate of speed. Collision caused vehicle two to swerve off road and rolled several times. Driver one arrested for DUI by Washington State Patrol. Driver one said she was driving over 100 mph.
Report of hit and run at drive-thru parking lot. Unknown suspect hit a newer Dodge Ram Megacab before attempting to pull boat through drive-thru. Suspect hit several rocks and the building before leaving. Suspect fled.
July 20
Homicide investigation.
July 21
Report of domestic in 300 block E Street Northeast. Suspect taken into custody for fourth-degree assault — domestic violence and third-degree malicious mischief — domestic violence.
