Larry Allen Weis
Larry Allen Weis, 72, of Ephrata, Wash., passed away peacefully July 15, 2025, with his wife Debbie and daughter Autumn by his side.
Born in Walla Walla, Larry was the youngest son of Bob and Emma Lou Weis. He grew up in Richland and graduated as a proud Richland Bomber in 1971. Known affectionately as “Big Guy,” he was loved for his big heart, humor, and generosity.
After a cross-country road trip and earning a degree from Columbia Basin College, Larry worked in Alaska, became a journeyman carpenter, then an electrician. He met Debbie Smith in Yakima and became a devoted dad to her daughter, Autumn.
Larry and Debbie were married Oct. 1, 1988, beginning a journey built on love, laughter and family. Through Debbie, Larry gained not only a loving wife and daughter but also a tight-knit extended family. He formed lifelong bonds with his brothers-in-law — Jim, Tom, Rob and Scott — and treasured the countless fishing trips, backyard cookouts and joyful Smith family gatherings.
Larry worked for Grant County PUD and retired from Wanapum Dam in 2015. He was a neighborhood favorite in Wanapum Village — always ready for a basketball game or boat ride.
A true outdoorsman, Larry’s soul came alive on the water. Whether fall fishing with Debbie’s brothers in Lewiston or beach camping on Lake Roosevelt. Those memories — sunshine on his face, laughter in the air — were among his happiest.
He loved music and playing his guitar by the fire. He was a proud grandpa to Gracelyn Goode and shared an extraordinary bond with his grandson, Trevor Dietrich.
Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2019, Larry met it with grace and strength.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter Autumn (Michael) Dietrich; grandchildren Gracelyn (Andrew) Goode and Trevor; and extended family.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at the Ephrata Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Dietrich home.
