MOSES LAKE — A 17-year-old boy was booked into juvenile detention Friday for possessing images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct after a search of his phone in connection with an unspecified homicide case.

The boy was a suspect in the homicide, according to a press release from the Moses Lake Police Department. Police Department Capt. Jeff Sursely said he couldn’t comment on whether or not the juvenile was still a person of interest in the homicide.

The boy’s phone was searched as part of the homicide investigation; the images were discovered, and MLPD officers served a search warrant on Friday at a residence in the 2100 block of West Willow Street. The boy was arrested at the scene.

“This remains an active investigation with no further information available at this time,” Sursely said.
