NEWS BITES: July 7, 2025
GRAND COULEE – At 11 p.m. July 5, Coulee Dam Volunteer Fire Department was paged for a brush fire near the intersection of State Route 155 and Columbia Avenue. They requested mutual aid and Grand Coulee and Electric City Volunteer Fire Departments were summoned. With a response of numerous wildland trucks, structure engines, water tenders, an ambulance and numerous firefighters and police officers, the fire was contained and put out, according to a release from Grand Coulee Volunteer Fire and EMS.
Most units were sent home at about 12:45 a.m., a couple of units stayed overnight, and a hand crew continued to mop up the scene until daylight. No injuries were reported. Occupants of a nearby motel were notified and evacuated the building until they were told it was safe to return. The fire is under investigation. There were reports of a car shooting fireworks at another car before the fire started. A large boom was reported in the area and several buildings shook, but nothing but the brush fire was found, the release said.
MOSES LAKE – Grant County Sheriff’s Office released a Level II Registered Kidnapping Offender Notification. Rita Lozano will be living in the 1100 block of Mather Drive. She is not currently wanted for any crime.
MOSES LAKE – Grant County Sheriff’s Office released a Level II Registered Sex Offender Notification. Travis Eicher will be living in the 1500 block of North Daniel St. He is not currently wanted for any crime.
MOSES LAKE – Grant County Sheriff’s Office released a Level III Registered Sex Offender Notification. Marvin Compo is living as a transient in the Moses Lake area. He is not currently wanted for any crime.
