Cause of Lind house fire undetermined
LIND — The cause of a fire that destroyed a Lind residence in the early morning of July 5 is still under investigation.
“It remains undetermined,” said Adams County Fire Marshal Andie Lorenz on Monday.
Adams County Fire District 2 Chief Eric Labes said the fire was reported at about 2:30 a.m. July 5, and the fire was endangering the house when crews arrived.
“The fire had already moved to the house from the yard,” Labes said. “There was no saving that house. Our big concern at the time was protecting the houses next door.”
The fire was in the 200 block of East Third Street, according to an ACFD 2 release.
All three houses were evacuated, Labes said.
Six ACFD 2 trucks responded to the scene, he said; many of the district’s firefighters were out of town, so Labes requested mutual aid from Adams County Fire District 1 in Ritzville. Fire District 1 brought three trucks, he said. About 15 firefighters were on the scene.
