Fire destroys home in Lind
LIND – On July 5 at 2:30 a.m. Adams County Fire District 2 was dispatched to a yard fire in the 200 block of E 2nd St. Upon arrival it was determined the fire had spread to the house and the fence of a neighboring house.
Within seconds, the home involved was completely engulfed in flames, according to an ACFD release. The house involved and the two neighboring houses on both sides of the property were both evacuated.
“Our first priority was to evacuate 3 houses, the one involved and the houses on both sides of the house that was engulfed,” said Chief Eric Labes of ACFD2.
The decision was made to call for mutual aid from Adams County Fire District 1 to help extinguish the flames and prevent further spread. The quick response of both departments kept the fire contained to one structure.
Labes expressed the department’s thanks to both ACFD1 and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office for the quick response and the help with evacuations.
“This Incident shows just how important it is to have a good relationship with neighboring departments,” said Labes. “It is key to the safety of our communities and the citizens.”
More information on the fire will be provided at a later date.
