SOAP LAKE — The second annual Soap Lake Prevention Coalition 3-on-3 basketball tournament will tip off Saturday morning to raise awareness of vaping, according to Katy Buchanan of the Youth Empowerment Project.

“The Prevention Coalition is about bringing organizations together in the community that help give kids positive activities to do so they don't get involved in drugs,” Buchanan said.

The tournament will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday and conclude at 1 p.m. According to Buchanan, 14 youth teams have already registered, which is higher than last year. Buchanan said participants will receive gear that is centered around drug prevention.

If community members would like to volunteer or register for a team, there is still time, according to event organizer Ryan Boldman. The set up for the event will be at 7:30 a.m., and assistance with cleaning up afterward would be appreciated, he said.

“We are excited about this opportunity for fun and collaboration and are sure that volunteers will find the experience rewarding,” Boldman said.
