Structure fire in Grand Coulee, one fatality
GRAND COULEE – The Grand Coulee Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a single-wide trailer fire near 122 B Street in Grand Coulee at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Chief Ryan Fish reports there was a civilian fatality involved with the fire. No further details are available at this time as law enforcement, Grant County Coroner's Office and Grand Coulee Fire are working together on the investigation of the fire and the fatality.
Two citizens discovered the fire and took action to remove the two dogs from the yard, according to the statement from the department.
The fire was contained by around 6:45 a.m. and crews left the scene at around 10 a.m., according to Fish.
Fire units and personnel from Grand Coulee, Electric City Volunteer Fire Department, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Grant Coulee Volunteer Ambulance, Grand Coulee Police, Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Grant County Coroner's office were at the scene.
“The crews did an awesome job; we got there we started getting water on the fire and we had it contained pretty fast. It was a routine job for us,” Fish said.
The Grand Coulee Volunteers have responded to seven calls in the last 24 hours, according to the statement.
