4 officers join Quncy PD
QUINCY — Four new officers have joined the Quincy Police Department. Danya Mercado, Mark Gomez Paz, Diego Hernandez and William Halterman were sworn in during the Quincy City Council meeting Tuesday.
Chief Ryan Green said the new officers replace four that left the department during 2024 to work for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
“That puts us back to full strength as far as police officers,” he said. “We have a great group of young officers coming on board.”
Mercado and Hernandez are graduates of Quincy High School, Green said. Halterman worked for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife prior to joining the QPD and is a US Army veteran.
Gomez Paz, Mercado and Hernandez are graduates of the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission academy in Pasco, Green said.
