Nominations open for American Legion first responder awards
EPHRATA — The American Legion is looking for a few good heroes.
Art Semro Post 28 in Ephrata is accepting nominations for its First Responder Recognition Award, according to an announcement from the post.
“Our local first responders go above and beyond every day to serve and protect our community,” the announcement said. “Now, it’s time for us to give back and recognize their acts of kindness, bravery and heroism.”
This award will recognize people who have gone out of their way to help someone in need or demonstrated extraordinary courage in an emergency, the announcement said. They will be honored at the annual 9/11 Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance hosted by the post in Ephrata.
Nominations are open until Aug. 15, according to the announcement, and can be made at www.ala-128.org/localhero.
“Let’s come together to celebrate the amazing individuals who make our community safer and stronger every day,” the post wrote.
