Gonzaga’s Ejim, Turner earn player of the week honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Gonzaga’s Yvonne Ejim and Allie Turner were both named West Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday after helping guide the Zags to wins over both Portland and Loyola Marymount.
This marks the third week this season that both Ejim and Turner swept the WCC weekly honors; they also did so Nov. 25 and Dec. 16.
Ejim, a senior forward for Gonzaga, earned Player of the Week honors from the WCC after averaging 27 points and 10.5 rebounds in last week’s outings against Portland and LMU. Against the Pilots, Ejim scored a career-high 35 points on 12-of-16 shots from the field while collecting 13 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Ejim also scored the game-winning bucket in a one-point win over Portland and became the program’s all-time leading rebounder last week.
Turner garnered Freshman of the Week honors for the fifth time this season after setting a new career-high with 23 points in the win over LMU last week. The freshman guard also tied her career-high with five three-pointers made against the Lions while grabbing nine rebounds in the win.
