Ephrata, Moses Lake qualify for state cheer

BATTLE GROUND – Both Ephrata and Moses Lake qualified for the upcoming State Cheer Championships, which will be hosted at Battle Ground High School on Friday and Saturday.  

Each team will compete in two competitions at the championship meet, which will feature dozens of teams from the 1A-4A classifications. 

Both Ephrata and Moses Lake are among the six teams competing in the 2A/3A/4A Game Day Coed division, along with Cascade (Everett), Ferris, Highline and University. Game Day cheer competitions will be held Saturday; Ephrata performs at 5:30 p.m., while Moses Lake performs at 6:10 p.m. Awards will be given to the top two teams in the division. 

On Friday, Ephrata will perform in the Non-Tumbling Medium division at 6:50 p.m. and compete against Bellingham, Steilacoom and W.F. West, where the top team will receive an award. Moses Lake, competing against Ferris, Lynden, North Central, Olympic and University in the 2A/3A/4A Tumbling Coed division, will perform at 10:35 p.m. The top two teams in the division will receive an award.

Moses Lake took first in the 1A/2A/3A/4A Tumbling Coed competition and second in the 2A/3A/4A Game Day Coed competition at last year’s championship meet.
