The 23rd annual Hot Spot Basketball skills event results
MOSES LAKE — On Wednesday, 113 children competed for the 23rd annual Hot Spot competition, a basketball skills event for children 6-13 years old at Vanguard Academy. There were different categories including free throws, dribbling and shooting. Columbia Basin Job Corps students helped run the stations and the event.
The following awards will be presented with medals at Saturday night's Moses Lake High School basketball game against Wenatchee High School. The game starts at 6 p.m. at MLHS.
For girls 6-7 years old the first-place winner was Ripley McDonald. Second place went to Abigail Rettkowski and third place went to Eloise Mae Parker.
For boys 6-7 the first-place award was earned by Madden Earl, followed by Hez Albert in second and Well Tait in third.
For girls 8-9 years old the first-place award went to Rebecca Johnson. Second place to Brielle McCaffery and third place to Rosemary Le.
For boys 8-9 the winner is Josiah Llewellyn, followed by Preston Groth in second and Jack Smith in third.
For 10- to 11-year-old girls the first-place prize was taken away by Devyn Stout. Second place by Stella Houvener and third, Kshawni Holman.
For the boys 10-11 Zach Ahmann won first. Brock McCaffery won second and Own Earl won third.
For girls 12-13 years old Cindy Albert won first place. Second place went to Alina Ilayeva and third place went to Brooklyn McCaffery.
Among boys aged 12-13 years old Dillon Bates won the first-place award. Blake Hines won second place and Tannon Blackman won third place.
