RITZVILLE — Law enforcement officers in Adams County got some training in restraining Thursday, according to a statement from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Corrections and the Othello Police Department participated in valuable training on the WRAP Restraint System. The WRAP system is a safe and effective tool used to immobilize individuals who present a danger to themselves or others, particularly in situations involving violent behavior, self-harm, or medical distress, according to the ACSO. It allows law enforcement to maintain control while prioritizing the safety and dignity of the individual in custody.

This training provided hands-on experience to ensure proper application of the WRAP system in real-world scenarios, the ACSO wrote. The same training will be extended to Adams County corrections staff next week, along with opportunities for additional agencies to participate.
