MLSD Community Engagement Board seeking applicants
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake School District is looking for community members to join the Community Engagement Board – a volunteer group created to allow community collaboration on district issues such as school attendance and engagement.
“Addressing attendance issues requires collaboration between schools, families, and the community. With only 69.7% of students statewide attending school 90% or more of the time, many districts face similar challenges,” Nicholas Bontrager, MLSD director of Data Assessment Systems and State and Federal Programs, wrote in an announcement from the district. “Community Engagement Boards offer a proven alternative to court intervention, helping students and families address attendance barriers early. We encourage our community to join this effort and make a lasting impact.”
The district is looking for people with a commitment to supporting students in educational success, diverse voices and perspectives and availability to participate in meetings, training and other events, according to the announcement.
