39-year-old booked on warrant and controlled substance possession

EAST WENATCHEE — The East Wenatchee Police Department conducted a traffic stop Jan. 6 in the 700 block of Third Street Southeast. Sergeant Tye Sheats recognized the driver of the vehicle and was aware of his outstanding felony arrest warrant in Santa Barbara, Calif.  

The 39-year-old was booked without issue.  

EWPD then called out K-9 Maverick to conduct an exterior search of the vehicle, where he was alerted to a positive odor of narcotics. The vehicle was impounded for the application of a search warrant after probable cause from K-9 Maverick was obtained.  

Once the search warrant was granted, a substantial number of narcotics, packaging, a digital scale and three unlawfully possessed firearms were seized from the vehicle.  

Narcotics seized include 21 grams of fentanyl powder, 41 grams of methamphetamine and 114 fentanyl pills.  

The suspect was booked on three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
