Kenneth Layton Bohne
Kenneth L. Bohne, 84, of Moses Lake, Wash., passed away peacefully at home. Born in Cardston, Alberta, to John and LaPreil Bohne, Ken was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and faithful servant of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ken grew up in Glenwood, Alberta, and moved with his family to Moses Lake, Wash., in 1954. He graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1958, where he was an accomplished trumpet player in the high school band. He enjoyed playing basketball and softball with the LDS Church and in city leagues, fostering lifelong friendships along the way. He was also a member of The Variations, a local singing group that performed at church and community events.
Ken married his eternal companion, Buelah, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They celebrated 64 years of marriage and shared a life filled with love, faith and service. He was a lifelong member of The Church, where he served in many leadership roles including Bishop, Stake Executive Secretary, Ward Clerk, Gospel Doctrine Teacher and Stake Athletic Director. His dedication to his faith and his service to others were central to his life.
Ken worked various jobs throughout his life including police reserve, retail clerk, bus driver, transportation manager and Aramark, after which he retired. Through his example he taught his posterity the importance of hard work and the responsibility of taking care of your family.
Above all, Ken cherished his family. He was a constant presence at family events, seldom missing a recital, sporting event or milestone. He was deeply loved by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his legacy of love, kindness and devotion will live on through them.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Buelah Bohne; four children, Todd Bohne, Jill (Jim) Backman, Michele (Bill) Blondin and Yvette (Greco) Signorelli; 11 grandchildren, Chantel (Rob) Decker, Tyler (Telecia) Backman, Ric (Angie) Bohne, Brittney (David) Andersen, Karley (Bryce) Roylance, KaiLani (Tom) Silva, Dylan (Savannah) Signorelli, Kiley (Cameron) Black, Baylie (Nate) Cole, Josh (Alexcis) Williamson and Dominic Signorelli; Alex Blondin; Tiffany (Justin) Dole; and Mackenzie (Chris) Navarro; 35 great-grandchildren; and brothers Blaine (Carol) Bohne and Kim Bohne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and LaPreil Bohne, sisters Audrey Wright and Patricia Shelton and daughter-in-law Gloria Bohne.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the LDS Grape Drive Chapel, Moses Lake, Wash. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10-10:45 a.m.
Kenneth will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his deep love for his family and his lifelong commitment to service. His legacy of kindness, dedication and love will live on in all who knew him.
