COLUMBIA BASIN — It’s a new year and things are beginning to get back to normal after the holiday season. Here are a few of the things going on in the Basin this week:
Jan. 3
First Friday Jam
7-9 p.m. at George Community Hall, 403 W. Montmorency Blvd. Anyone with an instrument can come and play; anyone with ears can come and listen. Info: www.georgecommunityhall.com.
Jan. 4
Free Family Saturday
Crafters of all ages are invited to make a winter tree suncatcher. No charge, and all materials are supplied. Noon-2 p.m. at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center, 401 S. Balsam St. Info: 509-764-3830.
Sensory Storytime
A storytime for children from 3 to 7 years old with sensory needs. It will be a storytime that is especially welcoming to neurodivergent children and their families. No sign up required. 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Moses Lake Public Library, 418 E. Fifth Ave. Info: 509-765-3489.
Concealed Carry Class
This four-hour comprehensive training course is designed to educate individuals on the laws and regulations surrounding the carrying of concealed firearms. This class covers essential topics such as the use of force, firearms safety and the proper handling and storage of firearms, as well as the specific laws and any requirements for obtaining permits in Washington, Oregon and Arizona. Upon completion of the class, attendees will be eligible to apply for the above-mentioned permits and will also receive a WA — HB-1143 Gun Safety Certificate. Cost is $74.99. Working Families Tax Credit help
The Washington State Department of Revenue will have an outreach specialist in Moses Lake to help taxpayers with questions about the WFTC, which offers up to $1,200 for qualifying residents. The public is invited to stop by with any questions. They can also receive free assistance with their 2022 and 2023 applications or simply find out if they’re eligible for the 2024 refund. Brewing Connections Othello
Raising a child with special needs can be challenging, but you’re not alone. Join Parent to Parent of Grant/Adams County for an exciting evening of brewing connections to connect with other parents on a similar journey. Because finding care for children can be difficult, activities will be provided for them, and they’ll have the chance to meet other children too. 5-6:30 p.m. at Lighthouse Community Center, 705 E. Cribbage Night

Ephrata Community Resource Forum Meeting
The Ephrata Community Resource Forum brings together diverse stakeholders with an aim toward coordinating efforts and strengthening partnerships in addressing community needs. Singo
Singo is a new and exciting musical spin on the traditional game of Bingo. Instead of listening for a number, players are listening to their favorite music. Each player receives a free Singo card printed with the titles of popular songs. While Singo randomly plays song clips, players can sing along and mark matching song titles on their cards. The first player to mark five songs in a row and to shout "Singo" wins the round. Admission is free and prizes will be awarded. 6 p.m. at the Moses Lake Taproom, 530 W. Valley Road. Coffee and Conversation
Every month the Downtown Moses Lake Association hosts a different presentation from employees or business owners in Moses Lake. H.E. Gritman Senior Center Fundraising Breakfast
