Lady Cougs to face Pepperdine today

PULLMAN – The Washington State Lady Cougars are set to end their inaugural season in the West Coast Conference today at 1 p.m. against Pepperdine at Malibu.
WSU has locked themselves in as the third seed for the WCC Tournament with a bye Saturday and 10 days between games before hitting the WCC Tournament quarterfinals on March 9.
The Waves will face the Cougars on the Pepperdine court for the first time since 1983, when the Waves had their first and only win over the Cougs. WSU has won each of the two teams’ previous three pairings on the court in Pullman.
Coug Tara Wallack stands out as a player to watch on the court with 1,248 points during her career, the 14th best in program history. She also has 158 career blocks, 3,839 career minutes, 643 career rebounds and started her 100th game for the Cougs this past Saturday.
Those stats place her third in WSU program history for total game time and is just 121 minutes away from having the most time on the court in Lady Cougs history, according to WSU Athletics.
Junior point guard Astera Tuhina has 110 assists this season, ranking fifth in the WCC, and making her another player to watch. She has recorded more than 100 assists in back-to-back seasons, finishing last year with an even 100.
Blocking has been a strong point for Pullman this year, with the team ranked second behind Southern California with 187 blocks and 195 blocks, respectively.
