Audit findings follow sentencing of former GCFD 4 chief
State auditors recommended that Grant County Fire District 4 change its recordkeeping procedures after one audit found inadequate documentation of purchases of fire equipment. A second audit followed allegations of misappropriation of money by former GCFD 4 Chief Kevin Whitaker. Whitaker pleaded guilty to identity theft in September.
