Harold Wiley
Harold Eugene Wiley, 76, passed away Dec. 4, 2025, in Logandale, Nev. Harold was born in Sunnyside, Wash., on May 14, 1949, to Robert Earl Wiley and Anna Juanita Minor. He married Kathryn Ann Hanford on Aug. 18, 1972, in East Wenatchee, Wash.
After graduating from high school, Harold joined the United States Army and became a pilot. He was a Vietnam War hero. He flew on low-altitude rescue missions under heavy enemy fire and received many commendations. He served for many years before retiring. He attended North Seattle Community College and graduated with a Certification for Applied Science of Electronics, followed by a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Washington. He worked as an engineer for the Grant County Public Utility District and retired as the Chief Telecom Engineer.
Harold loved flying, and after leaving the Army, he continued flying his own plane. He loved shooting, hunting, camping and fishing. He loved working on his HAM radios. He also loved cooking in all its forms. He would BBQ and smoke meats, and after moving to Logandale, Nev., he became a very good baker. He was full of love and good humor, always teasing those he loved. He was your friend for life, and his friendship came with "dad” jokes and silly nicknames. He was a man of great integrity. Although he and Kathy never had their own children, they treated their many nieces and nephews as their own kids and adopted many of their neighbors as their loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Wiley; his nephews, Robert C. Wiley, Kenneth S. Wiley, Joshua Hanford and Brian Hanford; his nieces, Brooke Hempel, Julie A. Wiley Schmidt; many great nieces and nephews; his brother, Robert “Bob” Wiley; and many adopted love children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Wiley.
A visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, 10:30-11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logandale Chapel, 3245 N. Moapa Valley Blvd., Logandale, Nev. The Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial services will be held at a later date at the Sherman, Wash., Cemetery.
