MOSES LAKE – The University of Washington Huskies football team (8-4) will be heading to face the Boise State Broncos (9-4) in Los Angeles this weekend at the L.A. Bowl hosted by Gronk. The game will take place at SoFi Studium on Saturday with kick-off at 5 p.m.

“We are excited about the opportunity,” said Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch in a press conference. “Spent yesterday and the day before game planning for Boise once we saw the game end Friday evening and we know we’ve got a really good team that we’ve got to deal with... We know we’ve got our work cut out for us.”

UW enters the bowl game after falling in its regular-season home finale against the University of Oregon 14-16. The Huskies' defense held the Ducks to just one touchdown through three quarters, but the Ducks made four field goals in that time and held the Huskies to a single touchdown. Both teams scored a touchdown in the final quarter.

On the opposite side of the ball, the Broncos will be heading into the bowl after earning a victory in the Mountain West championship against UNLV 38-21, marking their third consecutive championship win. The Broncos came out strong, earning 28 points in the first half and holding their opponent scoreless in both the first and fourth quarters.

The Huskies are 4-2 in games against the Broncos, with the most recent victory coming Sept. 2, 2023, where UW opened the historic 2023 season with a 56-19 victory. In this game, the Huskies were led by Michael Penix Jr., who completed 29-of-40 passes for 450 yards and five touchdowns.

This year, the Huskies enter the L.A. Bowl led by quarterback Desmond Williams Jr., who has a 70% completion on the season with 21 total touchdowns, according to the UW athletics site.

The Broncos are led by quarterback Maddux Madsen, who, according to the Broncos' athletics site, has a 59.09% completion for the season and has scored 18 touchdowns.

This game will mark the 44th bowl game appearance for the Huskies and will be the seventh all-time meeting between the Huskies and Broncos. The Huskies enter the game with a 21-21-1 overall record in bowl games and will be UW’s first-ever trip to the L.A. Bowl and the 12th different bowl game they’ve played in the last 16 seasons.
