MOSES LAKE — Last week, the Moses Lake School District filed an injunction with the Grant County Superior Court over the Moses Lake Educators Association work stoppage. The injunction hearing was set for Dec. 9. However, a tentative agreement was reached Friday between the two entities, and teachers returned to school Monday, after five days of striking.

“Due to the end of the work stoppage, the district is dismissing the injunction filed last week,” reads a statement from the district.

The union still needs to vote on the tentative contract. MLEA President Heather Whittall was contacted for comment on when a vote may occur; she did not answer before press time.

If a majority of members vote in favor of the contract, it will be reviewed by the Moses Lake School Board, and the board will decide whether to pass it or not. If the contract is not approved by a majority of union members or the school board, negotiations will continue. The next regularly scheduled school board meeting is Dec. 18 at 6 p.m.
