Moses Lake Parks and Rec offering day camp while schools are closed

MOSES LAKE — The Larson Recreation Center is offering an Explorers Day Camp until the Moses Lake School District work stoppage ends. The program offers students between the ages of 6 and 12 the opportunity to learn, play and hang out with peers while school is postponed.  

“As long as school is closed, we will have this program open here at the recreation center,” Explorer Site Supervisor Katelyn Dodson said. A full day costs $31 and goes from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; breakfast and two snacks are provided.  

However, students must bring their own packed lunches.  

There are also options for half a day, which costs $22 and goes from 7 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  

“We have all sorts of different crafts and activities. So, because we're at the Larson Recreation Center, we have a full court gym that we're able to utilize for approximately two hours out of our day as well,” Dodson said.  

Dodson said the students participated in an activity today with pasta noodles and marshmallows, working to build towers and bridges. 

“We're using their brains and keeping our kiddos entertained as well. We have some educational activities, and then some like free time, some exercising, just keeping them busy,” Dodson said.
