Structure fire on Road 5 NE results in fatality
MOSES LAKE – Grant County Fire District 5 with the aid of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Moses Lake Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Road 5 Northeast near Road E Northeast Thursday morning.
“First units on scene advised that it was multiple single-wides on fire,” said GCFD 5 Cpt. Shawn Killion. “When I arrived finally, everything was fully involved.”
The fire resulted in one fatality, but no identity for the victim has been released. The remains are in the custody of the Grant County Coroner’s Office for autopsy.
Killion said the call came into GCFD 5 at 8:03 a.m. Thursday, as a vehicle fire, which then spread to nearby structures. The structures involved included three single-wide trailers and a fifth wheel. All three structures were deemed total losses.
The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the scene for the cause of the fire, said Killion.
GCFD 5 was assisted on the call by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, MACC 911 and the Moses Lake Fire Department in addition to the coroner’s office and Grant County Fire Marshal.
