CBHA Run for a Cause coming Saturday

OTHELLO — A lot of folks in Othello will look very colorful this weekend.
The Columbia Basin Health Association will hold its eighth annual Run for a Cause Saturday morning, with runners — and walkers, and strollers — making a loop through town and being sprayed with paint every few blocks.
Approximately 1,000 people typically participate in the 5K run, according to the CBHA website. The event raises money for clothing, books, toys and bicycles for local children, and also contributes to community improvement projects, including park enhancements.
The run begins at CBHA on South 14th Avenue, heads west on Scootney Street to Kiwanis Park, then up Seventh Avenue past Othello High School. From there, runners will cut over to Third Avenue, loop around City Hall on Main Street, then head back to 14th Avenue for the home stretch back to CBHA. At seven stations along the way, they’ll be sprayed with bright-colored powdered paint as a sign they’ve made the circuit. The whole run takes about half an hour for the fastest runners, volunteers told the Columbia Basin Herald at a previous run.
Registration is $10 and can be done online or at the event, according to the website.
“This is a vibrant, high-energy event that supports childhood health and well-being,” CBHA wrote on its website. “This isn’t your average 5K, it’s a celebration of community, color and making a difference together.”
