GCSO dealt with 49 incidents during Bass Canyon EDM concert

GEORGE – The Gorge Ampitheatre hosted its annual three-day electronic dance music festival, Bass Canyon, over the weekend. The festival security managed by both the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and a private security organization had a busy weekend, according to Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman. 

“It was an okay weekend,” Foreman said. “I think concertgoers enjoyed themselves, and the small amount of people who caused a problem were handled by sheriff deputies.” 

Over the weekend, a total of 49 incidents were documented by GCSO deputies, Foreman said. The Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team was also present, but data was not available for them.  

The most common incident was trespassing with 10 occurrences, followed by eight controlled substance violations, five simple assaults, three property thefts, a couple of harassments, one assault with a knife and one assault with a weapon, not specified.  

“The high score this time was trespassing, as it usually is,” Foreman said. “That is pretty normal for the Gorge.”  

There were two larger incidents that GCSO handled over the weekend, including a Live Nation employee, Julian Flores, 23, who allegedly struck a pedestrian with a side-by-side while intoxicated. He was arrested for vehicular assault and DUI. 

Following, two GCSO deputies, per the request of INET, went to transport a drug distribution suspect to jail. While deputies were taking Bryant Fernandez Pizango into custody, he was resisting arrest, and his head struck the mouth of a GCSO deputy. 

“The deputy suffered a chipped tooth and bloody lip, and the suspect was transported to jail without further incident,” Foreman said.  

Pizango was booked into jail for third-degree assault, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.  

“The deputies were kept busy at the campground, assisting security and assisting the concert goers,” he said.
