New Mattawa business to start construction this fall
MATTAWA — A new convenience store is scheduled to open in spring 2026 at the west side of the intersection of Government Road and State Route 243 in Mattawa. Owner Hardeep Singh and Port of Mattawa officials recognized the start of the project with a groundbreaking July 30.
“By situating this new development at the SR 243 roundabout, (the owners) will provide a convenient for stopping point for daily commuters and tourists, as well as retail and dining options that are walkable for Mattawa residents on the west side of SR 243,” said a Port of Mattawa press release.
The 10,000-square-foot project will include a convenience store, restaurant, coffee drive-thru and retail or office space on the second floor. It will have the capability to add electric vehicle charging stations.
Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2025.
Singh said he saw the new development as good for his business and for Mattawa, adding services along the SR 243 corridor.
