Jacks fall to East Valley in OT

QUINCY – The Quincy Jacks soccer team fell to East Valley in a shootout tiebreaker Saturday afternoon. 

“We started off pretty well, I think we were on the front foot for the first 20 minutes or so,” said Jacks coach Jesse Villalobos. “The two goals that we conceded were us being asleep, it was just not paying attention to the game.” 

East Valley had put up two scores by the end of the first half, but the Jacks rallied in the second, where they responded with two goals of their own. The teams went into double overtime before having to go into sudden death, where East Valley came out on top. 

Villalobos said that the Jacks' lesson to take from this game is that they can find success as long as they can come together as a team.  

“This wasn’t the first time we’ve been in this situation where we have to come back and find one or two goals,” he said. “Ultimately, it’s on them to go out there and perform and they played very well so I think they should be proud.” 

The Jacks still hold one of the top spots in the Central WA Athletic Conference with a league record of 6-2 and an overall record of 9-6. Villalobos said the team is still in a good spot and will be going forward with high morale. 

They are going to ride their current momentum as they head into the postseason, keeping up their never-quit attitude, said the coach. 

“Even if we’re down one goal, two goals, three goals, we can still fight, we can still find the net,” said Villalobos. 

The Jacks will end the regular season off with a home game against Tonasket tonight at 6 p.m.
