Cody Joe Spicer
Cody Joe Spicer was born Aug. 19, 1985, to Lisa McCurty and Bill Spicer in Moses Lake, Wash. He had one sibling, his little sister, Katrina Ball.
Cody grew up in Moses Lake, graduating from Moses Lake High School in 2003. Cody excelled in so much throughout his education; he was a part of the Science Olympiad team, Math Counts, Auto Technician and many spelling bees.
In April of 2011, Cody welcomed his son into this world, Tanner J. Spicer. Tanner was Cody’s biggest blessing and pride of his life. Even when Cody didn’t have much, he always had a picture of his son nearby. His love for Tanner never wavered.
Cody loved being outdoors, which was where he enjoyed his favorite hobby, fishing. He had a lifelong love of the sport of fishing, and he fished anywhere he lived. He loved the Columbia Basin for this reason, there was always a place to throw in a line. Fishing brought him much joy in life. Cody also enjoyed playing Tennis whenever he could find a partner he would want to get on the court.
Cody had some experience working in restaurants in both North Dakota and Moses Lake; however, he seemed to find his most enjoyment working outside in the construction and roofing trades. Cody excelled at roofing and took great pride in his quality of work on every project.
Cody faced many struggles over his lifetime with addiction. He fought hard for many years trying to overcome this, and he faced his battles with courage. In honor of Cody, the family would like to encourage open conversation on the topic of addiction and mental health to help others with their healing process. Everyone deserves compassion. Cody will be remembered for his fight in his recovery process. Cody was more than an addiction. He was a beloved son, brother, father and friend to many.
Cody is survived by his son, Tanner Spicer; his mother, Lisa McCurty (husband Anthony McCurty); his father, Bill Spicer (wife Tracy Spicer); his sister, Katrina Ball (husband Jason Ball); nephew Wilder Ball, his grandfather, Tom Warfield and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Cody is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ruth Warfield, and his paternal grandparents, Robert Spicer and Patsy Hornback.
Cody’s service will be held at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake on May 9, 2025, at 10 a.m. Following the service will be pizza and refreshments at the Japanese Peace Garden.
