BASIN EVENTS CALENDAR: April 25-May 4

COLUMBIA BASIN — Spring has pretty well arrived, give or take the occasional chilly morning, and there’s plenty going on both indoors and out. Here are a few things happening this week: 


April 25 


Meghanne Storey 

Meghanne Storey is a dynamic singer/songwriter, born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Her indie/folk/rock and at times pop sound will catch you tapping your toes and humming along to well known favorites and unique original tune. Featuring guitarist Brandt Parke and drummer Doug McGrew. No admission charge. 5:30 p.m. at Michael’s Market & Bistro, 221 W. Broadway Ave., Moses Lake. Info: 509-765-4177. 


Columbia Basin Young Life Banquet 

Learn about all the fantastic things happening with Young Life in Moses Lake including the new Wyldlife middle school program and the YoungLives program for teen parents up to age 21. 5:45 p.m. at Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center, 900 E. Yonezawa Blvd., Moses Lake. Info: 509-989-5338. 


Day of the Children/Dia del Niño

April 26 


Central Basin Audubon Society Bird Walk 

Bring Discover pass, binoculars, snacks and water, a chair and your coffee. The plan is to spend some time sitting near the parking area and watching the golden eagle nest, as well as watching for other birds in the area. 8:15 a.m. at the Caribou Trail parking area, Sun Lakes State Park, 34400 Park Lake Rd NE, Coulee City. Dr. Seuss Breakfast 

Do you like green eggs and ham? This is your chance to try it and celebrate your memories of these great books and the adventures of childhood. Suggested donation $20. Moses Lake MomCo Touch a Truck 

Turn the children loose to check out – and maybe climb on – construction equipment, police cars, fire trucks and more. Face painting, raffles, food vendors and more. Downtown Spring Cleanup

Auction for Type 1 Diabetes

Rockin’ Good Time 

Join the Odessa Volunteer Fire Department for live music by Badlandz. Shredded beef sandwiches available for purchase and a full bar. Must be 21 or older to enter. $10 per person. Bring your friends, support your local fire department, and don't miss out on a great night 6-7 p.m. happy hour, 7-11 p.m. live music at the Odessa Community Center, 21 E. April 27 


Chakra Sun Catcher Class

Coffee and Support

Data Center Summit 

How many times have you used a data center today? (Hint: more than you think.) Data centers are becoming a growing presence across the North Central Washington landscape. Join the North Central Washington Tech Alliance for a regional conversation about the future of the data center industry and what it means for our economy, workforce, and communities. No charge, but space is limited, so it’s a good idea to register early. 1-4 p.m. at the Big Bend Community College Workforce Education Center, 7662 Chanute St. NE, Moses Lake. April 30 


Paint for a Cause

Spring Market

‘Steel Magnolias’ 

Head on over to Truvy’s Beauty Salon, where the curlers are hot and the gossip is hotter. “Steel Magnolias” is a modern classic filled with laughter, love and the strength of female friendship.
