Moses Lake man arrested for residential burglary

MOSES LAKE – Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrested 54-year-old Darrell Smith of Moses Lake on Friday at a residence in the 4400 block of Shorecrest Drive Northeast.  

A neighbor had called 911 after seeing someone enter the residence of an elderly man who is currently in a care facility. Deputies found Smith pulling a box spring out of the home. Smith tried to run and resist arrest. He was brought under control after being tased.  

“A neighbor had alerted us to a burglary that we were able to stop it, which is what we strongly recommend residents do,” GCSO Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman said. “They should keep an eye out for their neighbors and if they see something suspicious, they should call 911.” 

Smith was lodged in the Grant County Jail for investigation of residential burglary.
