COULEE CITY — The Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors softball team took home two wins when they hosted the Omak Pioneers. In game one they were victorious 10-6. In game two they built on their momentum, winning 11-2 and moving to five wins on the season.

The approach to the doubleheader was influenced by the Warriors' loss to Brewster, and Head Coach Faye Butler saw that her players became very motivated.

“The next day in practice, the girls were like, ‘We need to practice harder, Coach.’ And I was like, ‘All right, let's practice harder.’ One thing I've been trying to hammer in these girls this year is resilience, so yeah, we got into it, and they were pumped,” she said.

In the sixth inning of game one, the Warriors executed a play they had been working on all season, a double out: a throw to home plate followed by the out at first base.

“We've worked on this in practice, but I don't think we've ever successfully done it, but they did it, so that was really cool for them to do that,” Butler said.

In game two, ACH was able to build on that momentum and double down on their performance in game one. With the bases loaded, Grace Okomato hit the ball out to left field, allowing three players to make it home.

After their strong performance against the Pioneers, the Warriors look to continue playing well as the season continues.

“I'm hoping it's a real good, competitive game, and just that we keep on building on what we're doing, and that momentum carries onto whoever we play, we play ACH game, no one else's game, but our game,” Butler said.

The Warriors face Tri-Cities Prep Jaguars (2-5) on Tuesday in a doubleheader.
