QUINCY — The Quincy Jacks soccer team won on the road 1-0 in Thursday’s game against Toppenish.

“I think the biggest thing is when we’re on our game and playing our style of soccer, we’re going to be a pretty dangerous team,” said coach Hector Vaca.

The Jacks put up the one score of the game with a buildup play that started from their keeper and worked through lines into their defense. The ball then made it into the midfield where Daniel Mendoza kicked the ball out wide and led to a tap in by Edwin Hernandez, said Vaca.

Vaca said there were also a few unlucky shots throughout the game as well that kept hitting the goalpost, but overall feels it was a great team win.

“At the end of the day a 1-0 win in a league match is good,” he said.

Quincy has a daunting schedule ahead with their next two games being league matches at home and Saturday a game on the road to play Kings High School in Shoreline. As they move into this week the team will put a focus on taking some time to rest in preparation for their coming opponents, said the coach.

“I have a lot of guys just with knocks and sick and coming back from vacation as well,” he said. “I think we need rest, it’s a lot of games in a short period of time.”

The Jacks are currently on a three-game win streak and look to keep up this momentum moving forward.

“I would just say, props to the players for enduring everything that’s going on,” said Vaca. “(The) ups and downs of seasons, it just really takes a toll on your mind and your body, so I just want to give them a huge shoutout because it’s a lot.”

The Quincy Jacks will be playing their next game at home against Prosser tomorrow at 6 p.m.
