Volunteers sought for Mattawa city cleanup
MATTAWA — Volunteers are being sought to pick up trash around public areas in Mattawa beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday. Cleanup will last all morning.
It’s separate from the citywide cleanup for residents that’s also this weekend.
Mattawa Mayor Maria Celaya said the assembly point is Mattawa City Hall, 521 Government Road, and volunteer teams will fan out from there.
“We have some groups (of volunteers). I know there are a few churches who have signed up already to volunteer,” Celaya told Mattawa City Council members April 3.
Maps will be provided to help guide volunteers around town.
City officials are asking for donations of latex gloves, garbage bags and bottled water for volunteers, Celaya said. People who want to donate can drop items off at Mattawa City Hall during business hours.
