Hattie 'Ann' Rice

| April 7, 2025 3:46 PM

Hattie "Ann" Rice, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and cherished friend, passed away peacefully March 16, 2025, in Moses Lake, Wash., at the age of 83.

Born on March 28, 1941, in Maumee, Ark., Ann was the daughter of Claude and Grace Davenport.

Ann was a devoted and proud mother to Russell Rice (married to Jeremi Rice), Jeffrey Rice and Jonathan Rice. Her family and friends were the center of her life, and she found joy in the love and laughter shared with her children, grandchildren, and friends.

A career nurse, Ann devoted her life to caring for others. She was known for her kindness, gentle spirit and sweet way of making everyone feel welcome, all while speaking with her endearing Arkansas accent.

Her love of Christ and commitment to her faith was a passion that defined much of her life. Ann had a deep love for her church and Bible study, finding strength and purpose in her faith.

Outside of her spiritual pursuits, she was a gifted quilter, earning multiple blue ribbons for her beautiful work. She cherished the time spent with her quilt guild friends, shopping for materials and carefully planning her next project.

For many years, Ann and her family called the small town of Republic, Wash., home, where she raised her children and created countless memories that will live on in their hearts forever. Ann’s warm, loving presence will be greatly missed, but her legacy of kindness, faith and creativity will continue to inspire those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie Adams, and her beloved husband, Elbert Jon Rice.

A memorial service to celebrate Ann's life will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Peninsula Community Church in Moses Lake, Wash., with a small luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Peninsula Community Church. 2403 W. Texas St., Moses Lake, WA 98837. 509-237-4837. [email protected].
