EPHRATA — The Ephrata School Board approved the purchase of two surplus 42-passenger buses at its March 24 meeting. The total cost of the purchase was $17,500.

“We bought those buses to accommodate our preschool program and other programs like summer school and summer trips because they are both equipped with air-conditioning, and they are a smaller 42 passenger bus that accommodate smaller trips better than the big busses,” Transportation Director Adam Roduner said.

The buses were purchased as surplus from the Prescott School District.

Roduner said transportation is currently looking for some substitute bus drivers, however, he is fully staffed otherwise.

“We’re actually in a better spot than we’ve been in a long time for staffing,” Roduner said. “That can always change overnight because transportation is a revolving door no matter what school district you go to.”
