LETTER: Thank you Bonnie, Cascade CG and ML Recreation

| September 25, 2024 1:00 AM

I would like to shout out some big thanks to campground host Bonnie, Cascade Campground and, of course, the Moses Lake Recreation Department.

My wife and I stayed at the campground in August while slowly making our way back from a three-month RV journey that primarily included national and state parks and we found Bonnie, the host of Cascade Campground, to be exceptionally good at her role. That is not always the case from my experience and coupled with her general engaging and timeless demeanor, prompted me to write to you.

At the first day of our stay, another couple adjacent to us had booked a site that was already reserved for some reason and Bonnie was a calming presence to their anxiety while finding another site that could accommodate their large RV and its high electrical demands. The 100-plus-degree temperature did not help the couple, but Bonnie’s cool demeanor and leadership qualities put them at rest quickly. While talking to Bonnie the second day, an overbearing woman interrupted us in order to complain about the behavior of someone else’s children and their playful activity that she was taking exception to for some reason. Bonnie accommodated the woman and the miniscule situation like a highly experienced professional of her vocation while many others may not have given it the time that it did not really deserve.

In speaking with Bonnie, I found that she possesses the increasingly rare quality of inherent kindness while maintaining boundaries toward proper and safe behavior of the guests. I also learned that she has been welcoming the same families year after year, seeing the children grow and then, come back to Cascade Campground with their own children! I can see why as Bonnie demonstrates the timeless good qualities of a wise and kind elder which any good parent would welcome into their family, just as Bonnie welcomes them with a healthy and happy stay.

Thank you again to Bonnie for being the presence that you are and of course, Moses Lake and the campgrounds recreation department for having such a fine facility and exceptional staffing.
